Barbara Thiede Lecture Series in Concord

Barbara Thiede is delivering a three-part series at All Saints’ Episcopal Church in Concord, NC, in which she explores Yhwh’s expression of emotions through bodily organs and his embodiment as a nonhuman animal in biblical texts. The series addresses the following pivotal questions:

Can we expand our understanding of the biblical God beyond the obvious? Is the deity of the Hebrew Bible more than a transcendent male who decrees from above?

She concludes the series by asking whether divine power in the Bible is always presented as masculine.
