David Flaherty awarded Critical Language Scholarship

It is with great pleasure to announce that David Flaherty, a Master’s student in the Department of Religious Studies at UNC Charlotte, has been accepted for both the Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) and American Institute of Indian Studies (AIIS) 2020 summer language programs. He will attend the CLS program this summer to continue his Hindi studies. Following the summer program, he will continue enrollment with Dr. Nilakshi Phukan at NC State University for further Hindi language studies. His current research focuses on the contemporary Indian hijra group and the ways they religiously engage with social media.
